Zeus + Δione, under the creative direction of Marios Schwab, has designed new cabin crew uniforms for Aegean Airlines, while Greek beauty brand Korres will be responsible for the cabin crew’s hair and makeup, utilizing earth tones of brown, bronze and pink.
This collection comes eight years after the last redesign by renowned Greek designer Sophia Kokosalaki. The history of Greek cabin crew uniforms dates back to 1957 when Aristotle Onassis commissioned the first Olympic Airways uniforms. Since then, major Greek and international designers have left their mark on this Greek fashion tradition, combining contemporary fashion trends with Hellenic cultural identity.
In 1958, Jean Desses introduced an austere, tailored suit emphasizing the New Look, complete with a pleated bonnet. Coco Chanel followed in 1966 with a dark blue suit featuring white collars and a delicate bow, worn by flight attendants for about three years. In 1969, Pierre Cardin created one of the most celebrated uniforms in aviation history: mini dresses and space-age bonnets in light blue. From 1972 to 1976, Greek designer Yiannis Tseklenis brought 70s flair with maxi dresses adorned with interwoven Olympic rings, complemented by colorful accessories, white boots and even umbrellas.

After Onassis’s passing and the airline’s transition to state ownership, designers like Roula Stathi, Billy Bo, and Makis Tselios contributed their own styles, ranging from folkloric prints to the introduction of burgundy hues, unconventional color palettes of Aspasia Tzerel and Truth Kontogiorgou and colorful scarves by Makis Tselios.
2009, with the airline’s re-privatization, the brother-sister duo of Celia and Nikos Krithariotis designed retro-inspired uniforms featuring blue and green contrasts. Finally, in 2015, after Olympic merged with Aegean Airlines, designer Sophia Kokosalaki was commissioned to create new uniforms that evoked the elegance of the Onassis era – a nod to the airline’s illustrious past.

The Zeus + Δione uniforms adopt a “neo-era philosophy” reflected at a time of championing diversity and inclusivity. The new uniforms will be seen on Aegean Airlines flights for years to come as part of the airline’s ongoing commitment to expressing the modern Hellenic aesthetic.
