The New York-based Greek America Foundation has announced that its Constantine and Patricia Mavroyannis Scholarship will be offered for the 2019-2020 academic year.
For the seventh consecutive year, the $5,000 scholarship is open to Greek and Greek heritage graduate students studying for a PhD in either theoretical physics or physical chemistry — in a North American university. Recipients will be awarded in the fall semester.
The purpose of the Constantine and Patricia Mavroyannis Scholarship is to recognize the importance of education. Specifically, it aims to reward and encourage educational achievement and support Greeks’ contributions to the global scientific community.
The Greek America Foundation has awarded a total of $80,000 to 16 recipients through the scholarship.
The scholarship honors the life and accomplishments of Dr. Constantine Mavroyannis, an internationally renowned career theoretical physicist with the National Research Council of Canada, and his wife Patricia.
