This year the San Francisco Greek Film Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of bringing contemporary Greek and Cypriot films to the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
A milestone year for the festival, which has served its local community and beyond, with on-line screenings, the SFGFF is the United States’ first and longest running Greek film festival.
The 20th edition of the SFGFF will run April 22-30, 2023, and will include nine days of in-person screenings at Delancey Street Screening Room in downtown San Francisco, and a separate program of online screenings to allow for viewing at home.
This year’s lineup includes a total of 46 films: 14 features and 14 shorts in person, plus a different selection of 9 features and 9 shorts virtually.

The films include a wide array of offerings, including comedies, dramas– even a critically-acclaimed historical documentary called “Venizelos,” that shares the story of one of modern Greece’s greatest politicians during a critical period of his public service.
All films in non-English will have English subtitles.
Several special guests are expected to attend the festival throughout the week.
There will be an Opening Night reception on Saturday, April 22, and a Closing Night reception on Sunday, April 30, both at Delancey.
The Closing Night reception will include live music as the festival celebrates this milestone year.
