For generations, Greeks have celebrated Easter with distinct festivities stemming from long-held traditions.

In light of this year’s celebration, The Pappas Post compiled a series of vintage Greek Easter photos with dates ranging from the 1930s to the 1960s.

The situations, neighborhoods and village squares may have changed over the years, but two things remain constant.

One, there is always a crowd, as Easter is a festive time for family and community. And two, there is always lamb roasting on a spit.
