The film that received an eight minute long standing ovation at its global premier at the Venice Film Festival is (finally) coming to a screen near you. And if you live in a place with no cinema… Don’t fret. It will be streaming online shortly after its cinematic release.
The much-anticipated film “Maria,” Angelina Jolie‘s critically acclaimed portrayal of famed opera diva Maria Callas, will premier in U.S. theaters on November 27, 2024 and begin streaming on Netflix on December 11, according to Netflix’s Tudum website.
Renowned Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín directs Jolie, and an auspicious international cast help bring the story of this larger than life, massive persona that is Maria Callas– to life.
The film will be released in Italy on January 1, 2025, in the UK and Ireland on January 10, and in Germany on February 6.

“Maria” follows the Greek American soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous, controversial and tumultuous life in the public eye. The film reimagines the legendary soprano in her final days as the diva reckons with her identity and life.
