The Greek national basketball team has been knocked out of the European Championships following a loss to host team Germany in the quarterfinals.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and his teammates struggled against a resilient German team, eventually losing 97-107, with Antetokounmpo getting ejected.
Greece, who went into the game undefeated throughout the tournament, could not find its rhythm against a German squad that fully capitalized on its home court advantage.
Antetokounmpo had another impressive outing for Greece, scoring 31 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds in 30 minutes. But the “Greek Freak” also picked up two unsportsmanlike conduct fouls, the last of which led to his ejection with 4:56 left.
Greece will now look to regroup and focus on qualifying for next year’s FIBA World Championships, set to take place in China during August 2023.
