(Photos) President Obama Tours Acropolis

President Barack Obama did what every tourist does when arriving Athens— he visited the most famous temple in the country and one of the most famous sites in the entire world— the Acropolis and its pinnacle, the Parthenon.

Obama toured sites where Ancient Greeks laid the cornerstones of democracy, the very form of government that has been a cornerstone of his own foreign policy throughout the world and the legacy that he hopes to maintain long after his years in the White House.

The President was also given a private tour of the Acropolis Museum which houses all of the statues and relics that have been found on the hill over the years.

Obama follows previous presidents who visited the ancient temple. Both George Bush and Bill Clinton made the trek up to the sacred rock overlooking the city of Athens.
