A former key Republican party operative and strategist and former communications chief during the presidency of George W. Bush is one of the new co-hosts of the popular morning television show The View. Welcome Nicolle Wallace!

Nicole Wallace, who was also a senior advisor on the ill-fated McCain-Palin Presidential campaign, joined the ABC show this week, together with Rosie O’Donnel, Rosie Perez and Whoopie Goldberg.

Wallace’s Greekness came up a few times during her appearance yesterday, when interviewing Kirsten Dunst about her new film “Two Faces of January,” which was shot on location in Greece. The two exchanged pleasantries about Greece when Wallace mentioned her Greek heritage to Dunst. Whoopie also chimed in, telling viewers that she loves Greece too and she hopes to retire there.

Wallace is no stranger to the national stage. During the Hurricane Katrina tragedy, much of the blame placed on the Bush Administration’s response to the catastrophe was placed on a lack of communication from his press office, which Wallace was in charge of at that time. That very topic arose during a conversation between the ladies on the show yesterday. Rosie O’Donnnell asked Wallace about her involvement in what many called President Bush’s low-key response to Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath. Wallace dispelled the notion that it was her fault by pointing out that at the time she was having her lavish wedding on Mykonos.
