Bronze Medal for Greece’s Sailing Duo of Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis

Greece’s dinghy sailing team of Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis won a bronze medal in the men’s 470 sailing race at Marina da Gloria during the Rio Olympics Thursday.

“Our appetite has been sharpened. We now want more medals. We thought of quitting after failing to qualify for the London Olympics. But it only made us stronger and we managed to win a medal here [in Rio],” Mantis told Greek broadcaster ERT after the race.

The Greek duo finished behind Croatians Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic, who won the gold medal, and Australia’s Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan, who took the silver.

The bronze was Greece’s fifth medal in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
