The latest edition of the Christian Dior Magazine is packed with beautiful images of Greece and detailed articles about the many artisans that helped the French luxury brand create its latest Cruise collection.
The collection, which was showcased in Athens last summer, is a homage to ancient Greece, created by Dior Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The Italian fashion designer has often remarked on her fascination with Greece.
“Since my first trip, I was always fascinated by its rich culture and history,” Chiuri said – and it shows in her clothes.
The magazine, which was released recently, takes it one step further, pairing Maria Grazia’s incredible designs with beautiful Greek backdrops in Athens, Sounio and the Cyclades.
In one series of photos, taken on the Acropolis Hill, a number of models are wearing the latest Dior creations in front of Athens’ most famous landmarks, while another photo shoot showcases models on the Greek island of Milos.
The photos were taken by 10 female Greek photographers, including Mara Desipris, Christinia Dimitriadis, Marilia Fotopoulou, Efi Gousi, Maria Koutroumpi, Dimitra Lazaridou, Ria Mort, Lia Nalbantidou, Ioanna Sakellaraki and Olga Stefatou.
The magazine also features articles on Greek artisans, including the talented Aristidis Tzonevrakis, a tailor and embroiderer, who makes traditional costumes in Argos.
“I wove a dialogue with tailor and embroiderer Aristidis Tzonevrakis, whose excellence of craft is unique,” Chiuri said of Dior’s collaboration with the Greek artisan.
Christian Dior has one boutique in central Athens and each summer operates two pop-up boutiques on the island of Mykonos.
