Byzantine Excursion to Greece for University Students w/ 3 College Credits

The Hellenic American University, a U.S.-accredited institution of higher learning in Athens, is offering a unique study travel excursion called “A Byzantine Walk Across Greece,” which will be led by Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos.

The excursion will take place between June 25 and July 8.

Numerous lectures and discussions will take place while the participants visit significant sites throughout Greece, including monasteries, museums and ancient sanctuaries in Athens, Mystras, Nafplion, Hosios Loukas, Meteora, the island of Spetses and elsewhere.

In addition to the coursework, which will offer each participant 3 university credits that are transferable to any U.S. college or university, there will be various cultural immersion experiences including Greek dance classes, cooking classes and more.

Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, a recently retired auxiliary bishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, served as the Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago for twenty- two (22) years. Long active in ecumenical, interfaith and social justice ministries, he has led numerous groups on pilgrimages to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Turkey and historical sites in his ancestral homeland of Greece.
